Plant Description: Chitalpa is a cross between Chilopsis linearis and Catalpa bignonioides.  This cross has produced an amazing tree that is fast growing, drought and heat tolerant, and blooms from spring till fall.  The orchid-like flowers range in shades of pink and white, often highlighted by purple veins.  The leaves are green with a lanceolate shape, and tend to drop in early fall.  The Chitalpa has a beautiful open canopy that reaches a mature size of twenty five to thirty feet tall and wide.
